Guess what time it is? Back-to-school shopping season! But hold up, this year is totally different for me. No more shopping as a teacher; now, I’m tackling it as a parent! So, armed with the school’s supply list, my hubby and I headed to the website. And let me tell you, there were some wacky items on there – crackers to share? Really? You can’t have nuts, but non-dietary restricted crackers are ok? 🤔🚫🥜

With the list in hand, we marched into Target, ready to splurge some serious cash. But as soon as we hit the school supply section, things got real. My hubby turned into a “basic supplies robot.” White binder? Check. Boring pencils? Check. No personality allowed! 😒💼✏️

Meanwhile, I’m over here thinking, school supplies should be both practical and a chance for kids to show off their uniqueness. So I’m eyeing the colorful binders and cute stuff like a shopping ninja. My husband’s dragging the cart like he’s on a forced march. 💁🛒🏃

We ticked off the essentials – glue sticks, sharpened pencils, and crayons – the no-brainers. But then came the moment of truth: choosing scissors, notebooks, binders, and the almighty pencil case. I’m going for cute and functional, while my hubby looks like he’s about to explode from the decision-making pressure. 😬✂️📓📎

Then, we hit the lunch section. Oh boy, this is where things got spicy. The school list was missing the holy grail of cuteness – the bento-style lunch container. And of course, my husband’s like, “Why would we need a lunch bag if we have the container?” Facepalm 🤦‍♂️🍱

I had to school him in the ways of lunchtime chaos. My experience as a teacher taught me that kids will plop their lunch anywhere, from the hallway to the bathroom floor! And that’s where the lunch bag comes to the rescue, guarding the precious food from disaster. 🍎🍔

Finally, after some epic debate and a persuasive argument, he caved, and we added a cute bentigo chill and fun lunch bag to the cart. Victory! 🎉💪

So, yeah, we left the store with a totally empty wallet, but our hearts were full of excitement for our kiddo’s upcoming learning journey! 😊💰💕
