Continuing our adventure in the wacky world of dancing worms, we decided to crank up the heat, and boy, did things get interesting!
First, at a scorching 180 degrees, we witnessed a spectacle akin to a baking soda meltdown. But here’s the twist—our poor gummy worm buddies didn’t exactly bask in the glory. Nope, they mysteriously vanished, much to the kids’ amusement. It was like a magic show gone wrong, where the magician made something disappear but had no clue how to bring it back! We might need to enroll in magician school next.
On the flip side, when we dared to dip our gummy worm toes into the steamy waters of 90 degrees for a whopping 60 minutes (yes, we have the patience of saints), the baking soda refused to budge. Instead, our gummy worm co-stars fizzed and sputtered in protest but pretty much decided that lounging at the bottom of the glass was their true calling.
Then, just when we were about to give up and nominate tap water as our true hero (at a comfy 115 degrees), PBS Kids came to the rescue with their secret recipe: 3 tablespoons of baking soda to 1 cup of warm water. Lo and behold, it was the magic potion we’d been searching for! The baking soda dissolved like a dream, and our experiment transformed into a bona fide magic show with an astonishing grand finale.
But wait, there’s more! Remember the mysterious bouncing gummy worms from our previous experiment? Well, turns out, they weren’t rebels; they were born dancers! This time, with regular gummy worms (halved instead of quartered), they not only bounced but pulled off some hilarious wiggling moves that had the kids laughing so hard they nearly toppled off their seats.
Who could have predicted that studying the dance moves of gummy worms would be this side-splittingly fun and educational? We can’t wait to uncover more secrets in the wild world of science through these enchanting experiments! And if anyone knows where to find a gummy worm choreographer, we’re taking auditions!
