Exploring the Gateway to Science center in Bismarck with our kiddos turned out to be an absolute blast! To say they loved it would be an understatement—we practically had to drag them away. The initial moments were a bit chaotic, as excitement bubbled over, but within 15 minutes, a sense of calm settled in, allowing our little ones to dive into a world of exploration and experimentation.

The water table emerged as the superstar, offering around 30 different ways for the kids to engage with the mesmerizing power of water. Their faces lit up as they discovered the various ways to manipulate and play with this liquid wonder.

Venturing into the flight and engineering section added another layer of fun to our visit. From crafting paper airplanes to launching rockets, the kids were on cloud nine. The highlight, though, was constructing their own ghoulish contraptions to set loose in a wind tunnel—an exhilarating experience that blended science and spookiness seamlessly.

Other sections of the center proved equally captivating. We realized, with a bit of humor, that generating our own electricity might be a challenge (our oldest two only managed to light up one lonely bulb). Additionally, our little ones got a taste of meteorology as they stepped into the shoes of a meteorologist, predicting and reporting imaginary weather scenarios.

What added an extra layer of charm to our visit was the Halloween-themed décor adorning each section. Spooky and engaging, it created an immersive experience that heightened the fun.

All in all, the Gateway to Science center is a definite repeat destination for us. The blend of education and excitement, coupled with the seasonal flair, makes it a place we’ll eagerly revisit again and again.
