Curious Case of the Midnight Muncher

Lately, we’ve been working towards perfecting the art of baking bread. Every week, we dedicate a day to crafting a loaf of some variety. In our latest endeavor, we decided to try our hand at sourdough.

The initial try left much to be desired, akin to an unbaked pie crust. However, our second attempt proved more satisfying, delivering both a delightful taste and texture. The kids were enamored, and we retired to bed content with the fruits of our baking venture.

But as the night unfolded, an unexpected turn of events occurred. Upon waking up to savor a slice of bread for breakfast, we discovered the loaf had mysteriously vanished! Despite an extensive search by the kids and I, the missing bread remained elusive.

After a few teary moments of disappointment from the children, I reached out to Aaron for insights. He suggested that I might have relocated the loaf the previous night, but my hazy recollection indicated otherwise. The kids were innocent of any mischief, leaving only one suspect – our canine companion, Rami, the white wolf.

It had never crossed my mind to suspect our dog, as the kitchen island appeared unchanged, absent only the loaf of bread. The cutting board and bread knives were undisturbed, and Rami had never shown interest in filching food before. Well, except for a close call with a gingerbread house during Christmas, precariously perched near the edge.

With this unexpected revelation, the case of the missing bread was solved. Consequently, Rami is now prohibited from roaming freely during our nocturnal hours, just in case she decides to play the role of the big bad wolf and devour everything in sight!
